Garbage Enzyme - an Anti Greenhouse Effect (Anyone Can Do It)

1. Dr. Ros’ Garbage Enzyme
a. What is Garbage Enzyme?

Dr. Ros’Garbage Enzyme is a complex organic substance of protein chain and mineral salt and juvenile hormone.

b. Garbage Enzyme’s Function
• Resolve / decompose
• Transform / Change
• Compose / make up / combination
• Catalysis

As a result of catalysis, ozone is produced, which can reduce the amount of carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere and thus reduce global warming.
This enzyme can be produced easily with the organic waste from the kitchen.

i. Anti Green House effect
As the result in enzyme production, O3 + NO3 + CO3 generated could purify the cloud and becomes white color; due to reflection from the sea the sky looks blue. But, instead dark cloud which accumulated a lot of heavy metal become greenhouse effect and more heat are trapped on the earth. The O3 from Garbage Enzyme could reduce the heavy metal in the cloud thus heat are released from the earth, that’s maintaining the earth’s temperature and save the atmosphere and global.
If every household make enzyme, this would help in anti global warming effectively.
More NO3 in the air can feed the plant. The plants will growth well. The root can let the animal alive, and animal give their waste to the plant more hormone and nutrition.

ii. Ozone test

c. Garbage Enzyme’s Usage

i. Agriculture
• Reduce over-use of chemicals in the agriculture.
• Keep the farm free from infections and insects.
• Enzyme can fertilize the soil for vegetable growing.
• As a natural Herbicide and Pesticide
• Can convert sandy land to fertile farm land.
• Keep clean and cool air in the farm atmosphere.
• Clean impure and dirty water in the farm.

ii. Household
• Enzyme is a popular household cleanser, cleaning with enzyme is a smart way to avoid using harsh chemicals. By the end those Enzyme will reach to the river & the sea and it will safe our environment.
• Remove the foul odor, mold and grime in kitchen and bathroom
• Anti bacterial and virus
• Help in driving away insects
• Remove odor from pets and cigarettes
• For ticks and carpets
• For ironing and washing
• For hallway and bedroom
• For car maintenance

2. Dr. Ros’ Garbage Enzyme DIY

a. Garbage Enzyme’s Method
RATIO:
Brown Sugar / Molasses : 1
Garbage (chop to smaller pieces) : 3
Water : 10
Method:
i. Mix brown sugar with water, add in the garbage.
ii. Leave some space for fermentation.
iii. Enzyme will form and ready to use in 3 months.
iv. Make sure the container is air tight.
vi. Push the floating garbage downward once a while.
vii. The enzyme is ready to use in 3 months. The residue can be reuse for the next production by adding fresh garbage. It can be use as fertilizer by drying the residue, blending and buried in the ground.

b. Remark
Usage Dilution ratio
Enzyme for fertilizer, 1:100 / 500 / 1000
Enzyme for insecticide, 1:1000
Enzyme for pesticide, 1:100
For anti odour / air re-freshener: dilute 200x
As plant hormone to get more
flower and fruit dilute 500x.
Enzyme adds with water to dilute, it become more power.
For Shampoo, Dish wash, Detergent, use enzyme: add half tea spoon in shampoo (1 tea spoon for 500cc; 1 table spoon for 1 lit) to enhance the nutrients and reduce chemical side effect.

3. Conclusion
If every household utilized their garbage to produce Garbage Enzyme and use it, the environment is clean, the Ozone layer is protected and our next generation could live in pollution free environment. Mankind can live in toxic free environment and enjoy non-toxic food.

Hi there,

wow... this is great. I have always buried my kitchen wastes viz: fruit peels and veggie odds and ends (no meat stuff as I am a vegetarian) into my flower pots as I am too lazy to make compost out of them.

This garbage enzyme sounds really easy and is so useful in such a variety of ways!! I am going to try it BUT takes so long to see the result... 3 months!!!

I am wondering if I need to collect enough garbage to fill a plastic pail to start the process OR do I just add on to it on a day-by-day basis?

Can anyone out there shed some light on this? The experts, please... tks.

Hi there Garbage fan,
Great that you starting to make better use of your kitchen wastes... many people are on to this at the moment... there is hardly any cost to doing it and it's such a help to the environment.

A friend of mine who has started with ehr first pail told me that all you need to do is to freeze your veggie and fruit peels until such time you have enough to fill a pail with them!! Hope this tip serves you well.... good luck...
I have just dumped in a bag full of stuff into my freezer.... way to go...

Hi all,

Just this morning, I was at the wet market and approached two veggie sellers and asked them for the veggie cast-offs. I only ned to pay them about RM1/- per kg and got 3 kgs plus - just enough to fill half a plastic pail.

So, this is another quick way to start off with your enzyme venture.
If you are a regular customer, your veegie seller may give you the odds and ends for free!!!

To make it easier for you to measure out the ratio (combination of ingredients) in the recipe:
3 kg veggie/fruit garbage
1 kg brown sugar
10 lit water

I will be posting the recipes for fruit enzymes (for consumption( soon. Keep a look-out for them....

Meanwhile, all the best...

Hi there,
Regarding the production of ozone, how can it helps to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide? What bothers me is that, I've read something about air pollution in China, and ozone particles produced as a secondary product from nitrogen oxide, ARE in fact a type of pollutants. Depending on where ozone is in the atmosphere, it can be either good or bad. As far as I know, ozone in Trophosphere (which is the closest to earth) are in fact bad for breathing, vegetation and crops (http://www.bradford.gov.uk/the_environment/environmental_protection/environmental_monitoring/air_pollutants.htm).

I'm sorry to be asking so many questions (as I'm a science student) but why can't we just stick to composting which are easier and this method has been here for centuries. Many research has been done on it and it has been proven to help the environment. Recycling is another method. By reducing the plastic usage, we help the environment as well.

In fact, what I've seen in some newspaper in M'sia, someone distributed those enzymes in PLASTIC bottles, isn't that going to HARM our environment as well?!?! Small things are overlooked at when you don't think about it.

Furthermore, knowing that most people who aren't very good in science will just accept what they are being told, which I think is very bad. They might be harming the Mother Nature without knowing it!

Is there any research which can prove that this is actually helping our environment? How can you be sure that the ozone produced by this enzyme will end up helping our ozone layer? How can you be sure that the ozone produced will not be part of the air pollution? What's the end product of this equation: O3 + NO3 + CO3 ?? There are too many flaws in this "garbage enzyme" than benefits! I know I'm not very good in environmental science, which is why I need someone to explains these to me before everyone starts believing that this method actually helps the environment! If you can provide research papers/findings that can prove all these, then it's fine to promote this method. Otherwise, it's better to get some expert to do the assessment before promoting this method to everyone who is trying to do something for the EARTH!

I've tried google scholar, looking for research findings, I just can't find any. If you guys can prove that this method really helps the environment, then I'm happy to follow suit. Otherwise, composting, recycling, buying biodegradable chemical detergent and reducing the plastic usage are so much we as consumers can do.

Cheers,
A curious science student

Dear curious science student,

We've received this comment by email, an insightful sharing thanks to 'Anonymous'.

Thank you both of you for your concern for Mother Earth,.. hope to hear more from you on environmental issue that we may not be aware of.

Thanks again! Blessed be your noble, green effort :)

==============================
Dear Pencinta Alam

This enzyme product is a researched product from Dr.Rosukon Poompanvong(Dr. Ros) of Thailand. "A curious science student" may visit the flwg website, which introduces Dr Ros's work & her outstanding achievement in caring our Mother Earth.

http://www.siamhealthy.net/english/index.html

This website is the best site for him/her to understand further or even write in to clear the doubts.

"A curious science student" may also surf Internet by using key words "Dr.Rosukon Poompanvong, enzyme" for more comments, reports on this product.

May I also humbly share with "A curious science student" that although composting, recycling, buying biodegradable chemical detergent and reducing the plastic usage are something we can do, but it's not enough.

I have been following this blog, the writers point out an important fact that even some environmentalists have overlooked or not alert enough, i.e get everyone to go vege or reduce meat intake. At current situation, going vege is no more a personal choice based on like or dislike, it is an effective solution to the global warming crisis, and every one regardless of age can take part. The impact will be very great if everyone takes part. I do hope we will be more far-sighted, values the Mother Earth and also be considerate by trying to keep a better place for those who are residing and/or going to reside on this planet Earth.

As for the use of plastic bottles, the organiser could be reusing the old bottles; or could be purchasing new bottles due to lack of understanding in the harmful effect of plastic bottles. May I suggest "A curious Science student" write to the email address provided enzyme4u@gmail.com to alert the organiser about this. I believe this should be a more constructive move, and for Dr Oon -someone who's is so willingly to play a part in cleaning up our environment, I have no doubt she will be willing to take in constructive advice.

It's good to see youngster like "A curious Science student" shows his/her concern. Keep it up !!

Hello,
I'm a newby in doing this garbage enzyme and am very excited to start doing my own. My question is the instruction mention about air-tight container. Can I use the bins like the ones we use as tong sampah, about 6 gallons size, with a lid? And are we suppose to open it once in a while to let it air? Thanks.

Greensleeves said...

Welcome chocful to the wonderful world of Garbage Enzyme...

Like you, I was new to this but I am getting to be quite an expert on it already... so, ahem... let me impart some helpful hints to get you off the ground!

Yes, you sure can make use of the tong sampah provided it comes with an air-tight lid (the ones that will turn around and lock into place)and it can hold 10 litres of water. These are probably the best containers to use for the purpose. For me, I recycle plastic pails (used to contain water-based paints) with air-tight lids. In fact, any plastic pail with lid is fine to be used.

Make sure that you leave at least some air space (about 3-4 inches) and not fill the pail to the brim for fermentation process. And you are advised to take a peep every now and then (don't worry, it won't jump out and bite!) and press down the top layer. Mouldy stuff may appear after some time but it's nothing to worry about, just press them down to the bottom.
The whole process will take at least 3 months before the enzymen is ready to be used. Until then, you just have to be patient.

I just started on my third batch this morning and am still scavenging for more garbage to do a few more batches.

Hey, it's fun and I enjoy seeing
all my kitchen waste going to good use soon.

Good luck chocful and hope you will have fun doing this. Tell your family and friends about this and get them to join in the fun too!. Ciao!

HI,

I'm very new to this garbage enzyme. Have just started making 2 pails of it. Wanted to check with regards to the dilution of the enzyme? Is it to dilute a capful to every 1 litre of water?

Genevieve.

Greensleeves said...

Hello Genevieve,
Oh wow!... You are one fast worker!
Just started and you are aleady on to the dilution process.... way to go, my friend!

For relevant info on the dilution you can go back to the 1st posting on GARBAGE ENZYME dated 23rd July.
There, you will get a list of such useful info.

All the best!

P.S. All this waiting (3 months!!) is also testing my patience, lah!!!

Hi,

I am one of the fruit enzyme fan. For garbage enzyme, what happen if i use the normal white sugar instead of brown sugar?

Anonymous said...

Dear Enzyme Lover,

We recommended brown sugar because brown sugar contained more mineral.

White sugar is process sugar it does not contain any mineral. That's why we recommended using brown sugar to make enzyme.

Thank you.

I saw below on a google group:

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for posting this extraordinary story. I have to say, it makes no
sense at all.

Oon's description of the science is a head-scratcher. While the earth's
upper-atmosphere layer of ozone is important in protecting us from solar
radiation, ground-level ozone is a nasty pollutant and a major component
of smog. Fortunately, I do not think that fermenting kitchen waste will
produce ozone. Clouds do not usually contain heavy metals (they're
heavy, and so tend to precipitate out of the atmosphere quickly). Nor
would releasing additional heat into the atmosphere somehow ameliorate
global warming.

What I think is happening here is simple fermentation. If kitchen waste
means vegetable peelings, etc., we are talking about a clean,
source-separated stream of organics. Put those into a low-oxygen
environment (the plastic probably allows some oxygen in through osmosis,
unlike glass) with some sugar and water, and the decomposition process
will form some fairly strong organic acids. This is essentially what
happens when wine- or beer-making goes wrong: instead of producing
alcohol, the extra oxygen forms acids.

These acids can certainly be useful for cleaning, as they are solvents.
In particular, calcium scale from hard water, which I believe is
generally alkaline in nature, would dissolve well in an acidic solution.
For the same reason, many people clean with vinegar or lemon juice. I'm
not sure I would put it on food, though.

The only climate benefit I can see from this is if the kitchen waste
were otherwise being mixed with other waste and sent to landfill, where
it could form methane. But pouring large quantities of organic acids
into rivers and oceans is certainly a bad idea: the world's oceans are
already suffering acidification from having absorbed unprecedented
levels of CO2. I still think a better use of kitchen waste is composting
or anaerobic digestion.

It's a pity the reporter did not talk to someone capable of verifying
these extraordinary claims.

cheers,

Neil

Hi Anonymous,

Good day :)
Here's a response received via email (cintaialam@gmail.com) with regard to your concern:

=======================
Dear Anonymous

If you TRULY concern yet have doubts, why not write to Dr Rosukon Poompanvong directly ? She's the best person to answer your doubts about Ozone thing in her enzyme. There's a Q & A section in her website.

Just my humble opinion, I think we should spread positive messages, if we happen to receive some negative opinion on a supposedly positive thing, it's wiser to verify first before spreading the negative views further. This world has enough negative energy, it's wiser not to add more to it. After all, we are the residents on this planet, & it's our duty to increase the positive energy on this planet & keep this planet safe, peaceful & happy for ourselves & our future generations. BTW, Dr Rosukon Poompanvong is not a nobody, pls read her info on (B)

B) Who is Dr Rosukon Poompanvong ?

A pioneering farmer in Thailand's organic movement, Rosukon Poompanvong - now in her late 40s - is a woman with an uncommon spirit of generosity. Working with farmers throughout Thailand and in Europe, she has succeeded in growing and marketing top-quality agricultural produce without using artificial fertilizers. The results of her work over the past quarter century have proven to be financially profitable and, even more important, at no expense to the environment.

As a university student of agriculture in the late 1970s, working with chemically treated crops was unbecoming to Dr Rosukon because of a blood disease she has lived with since birth. To avoid the headaches, she searched for an alternative. She developed a technology to tap the full potential of soil organisms by using fermented organic waste for crop fertilization and pest protection, also effective as a feed supplement for pigs and chickens. In 1997 she set up a Health Farm in Rayong province as a centre for training in organic farming methods that also receives people seeking natural treatment against illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and blindness.

Dr Rosukon, who has a Ph.D. in alternative medicine, helped create in 1984 the Organic Agriculture Association of Thailand and seven years later, on her own with donations she had saved from practising acupuncture, she started a mobile training service to teach farmers around the country how to produce healthy foods with her enzyme method. Her mission is to help people heal themselves. Villagers from near and far come to the Health Farm to study her methods of planting, treating crops and recycling all organic waste. She also continues her mobile training, visiting three villages a week. If Thailand intends to become the kitchen of the world, Dr Rosukon is determined to make it "a good kitchen, not a toxic kitchen."

& the flwg info from Dr Ros's website

(C) On Ozone - Dr Ros's website

Ozone has been recognized as the most powerful oxidant available to mankind. It is an effective bleaching agent and a powerful disinfectant, killing bacteria and funguses more rapidly than chlorine.

The problem of pollution, safety and rising costs are becoming increasingly difficult to solve in all fields dealing with sanitation, treatment of water, air and waste products. The use of ozone in these areas presents a safe, ease of use and economically viable solution.

Home for Health uses organic methods in preparation of liquid ozone providing factories and residences with a safe and efficient method of cleaning toilets, floors, outdoor and it also provides your garden with the natural organic nutrients.

The liquid ozone disintegrates the bacteria changing it chemical compounds to organic matters helping create more effective cleaning through oxidation.

The wastewater containing the friendly ozone bacteria thrown into the drains further help to keep these drains clean when the same process comes into effect.
Furthermore the ozone created through this process helps dissipate industrial waste gasses and odors emanated from industrial processes especial sulfur, dus to its high oxidation potential. Using the liquid ozone helps protect your environment and health from detenoration thus crating cleaner air and higher oxygen level in the environment.

Hi, I am also a newbie here & in the process of making my very first garbage.

I used a 15Litre plastic pail to make the garbage enzyme. Few days ago, there was a white layer of mould appear on the top & I have actually added another portion of the brown sugar to the content.

I just now realised that the white mould is nothing to worry about & it is a normal process.

But, what about the extra 1kg brown sugar that I have added on to the content? Should I just leave it as it is now or to dilute it to get the correct ratio of 1:3:10?

Anonymous said...

Halo there,

Here's a reply from enzyme4u@gmail.com:

-------------------------
Is ok just leave it, after 3 months just monitor and let us know the result.

Thanks

Anonymous said...

Hi Greensleeves,

I don't understand the mathematics of your recipe. I've tried a volume ratio of 1:3:10 - in my case 1 cup:3 cups: 10 cups. This is very different from 1kg:3kg:10l. Can you clarify?

Anonymous said...

I'm using a cup that holds 175ml of water as a unit of measure.

A volume ratio of 1:3:10 meant that I used 75g of sugar : 225g of peelings : 1.75 litres of water.

The formula of 1kg:3kg:10litres means that I should have used 175g of sugar : 525g of peelings : 1.75 litres of water.

Can you clarify? Thanks!

Greensleeves said...

Hi there...

Actually there is nothing complicated about this as long as you follow the ratio of 1 part brown sugar/3 parts fruit and veggie peels /10 parts water.

You are on the right track but if you don't want to confuse yourself with all the mathematical calculations, why not just round up the quanitites used? That is -
100gm sugar / 300gm peels /1 litre water (ration of 1:3:10). If you take it from here, you cannot go wrong.

All the best for another round of effort. By the way, I noticed that it is best not to mix the veggie and fruit peels together into one pail. If you keep them separate, the end result is clearer in colour.

Cheers!!

Anonymous said...

I see - then you should say that your ratio refers to weight rather than volume. One volume of peelings doesn't weigh the same as one volume of sugar or water.

Anonymous said...

1 Kg : 3 Kg : 10 L water
1,000 g : 3,000 g : 10,000ml water

If Water = 175ml x 10 =1,750L
Peeling = 1,750 / 10,000 x 3,000 g = 525 g
Sugar = 1,750 / 10,000 x 1,000 g = 175 g

Yes, you got the right proportion.

Pls use the above formula for yr future garbage enzyme production.

Thanks for trying, Cheers ! "

Anonymous said...

Actually it is very simple
1 : 1kg / 1 cup
3 : 3kg / 3 cups
10 : 10kg / 10 cups

Do not confuse yourself.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm started making garbage enzyme making about a month ago. May I know is it normal to find black mould on the surface of the enzyme?

In another pail of enzyme I noticed something that looks like white mould - it looks like clumpy white flour mixed with water. It's in clumps not one single piece like the black mould I described above. Is this normal too?

Thanks for your advise.

hi, my name is Chua.
actually i had done some research on the fruit enzyme, and i had found some useful information that is there had being a research done by researcher which they also find out that ration of brown sugar to the fruit and vegetables waste can also be 1:5 after the experiment that had done. they conclude that a large amount of fruit waste can be digested with the minimum amount of brown sugar.

Hi,friends, i am also making this GE, but i have some questions, pls guide me,
i use to make wine from grapes, the procedure of GE is same like making wine, then can i use wine as GE.
both are fermented with sugar and yeast, both are stored for longer period. then what is the different in wine and GE.
if I ferment this GE content arobicaly what will happen?

Greensleeves said...

Hi Dr Jawale,
So sorry for the late reply to your query.
Fermentation in wine making results in alcohol whereas in the GE making, there is no alcohol in the process of fermentation.
Hope this helps.
If you need more info about GE, pls email your queries to Dr Rosukon Poompanvong, who first initiated it.
